EVERETT — The County Council this Wednesday will finalize where to distribute grant funds for historic preservation projects.
Shut out of funding in the recommendations were a $15,000 request from the Monroe Historical Society seeking money for plaques honoring historical buildings downtown and a request from the Snohomish Carnegie Foundation for $3,000 toward creating a documentary film about the Carnegie’s award-winning restoration.
Also getting no funding is the Port of Everett’s request for money toward its plan to create a presentation about the historic Equator ship which the Port had dismantled in 2023.
Some proposed recipients include the Everett Library to digitize the collection of local architect Harold Hall and the Lake Stevens Historical Society’s plan to print a new history book. Another endeavor digitizes Tribunes from 1937 to as far as 1946.
The county’s Historic Preservation Commission decided the funding recommendations to put forward.
The County Council will vote at its 10:30 a.m. meeting on Wednesday, March 27.
