Snohomish Stories looking for tales of the former Pegasus

SNOHOMISH —  Did you see movies at Lon Brown’s Theatre on First Street, which today is marqueed as the Pegasus? Local historian Warner Blake wants your memories, whether they sharing be your experiences or digital scans of your mementos, such as photos or ticket stubs. He calls it a crowd-sourced mission.
The theatre’s grand opening was Oct. 9, 1924 and it operated until 1999. The lobby, balcony theater and the auditorium were gutted to convert the theatre into the Pegasus Theatre Shops around 2000. Blake writes with disgust over the latest renovation: “during a week in May 2020, the last straw — the fly-loft was destroyed and replaced with a ‘penthouse!’ ” A fly-loft is for raising and lowering scenery, drapery, and equipment.
The building at 1003 First St. sold to a new owner this January.
