SNOHOMISH — A 61-year-old Snohomish man who taught in Woodinville’s Northshore School District for 30 years was arrested in a regional sting on allegations of attempted child rape in the first degree. This is different than the Snohomish School District educator who was arrested in November.

County Executive Dave Somers late last week announced his decision he will not veto the budget County Council approved Nov. 27, but also would not sign it, meaning it will be enacted into law without his endorsement.
SNOHOMISH COUNTY — Last year, at least 85 people died on the streets in Snohomish County. This year’s number is not final, but organizers note that one is too many. The county will commemorate the deceased Friday, Dec. 20 with a vigil at 5:15 p.m. at the county campus.

SNOHOMISH — Plans for Homestead Park took a step forward last week when the City Council hired a design consultant to plan out what will be in the city’s 10-acre park at 2000 Ludwig Road.

EVERETT — The elevator for the Grand Avenue Park Bridge reopened with a short-term fix last month after vandals caused its closure.
EVERETT — The city has temporarily fenced off Clark Park at 24th and Lombard to begin deconstructing the park’s historic gazebo and constructing an off-leash dog play area in its place. City spokeswoman Simone Tarver said it could take until summer, when the 2,700-square-foot dog park is scheduled to be complete, before the fence is taken away.

MONROE — The City Council passed Mayor Geoffrey Thomas’s biennial budget unanimously, 7-0, during its Nov. 19 meeting. Also, utility rates will increase in 2025 for both the Water and Stormwater rates.
By a vote of 3-2, the Snohomish County Council on Nov. 25 approved a 2025-2026 biennial budget that rejected County Executive Dave Somers’ proposal for an 8% property tax increase over two years, instead amending it to a 4% increase over the biennium.
This year, at the Snohomish Lions Club annual Thanksgiving Banquet and Auction, they added a special FUND-A-NEED to the auction and raised nearly $8,000 for Camp Leo.
