Roller derby teams collide

Roller derbiers from the Strawberry City Roller Derby Club of Marysville and the Tilted Thunder Rail Birds of Seattle took on mock personas to form teams called the Sugar Rush and The Cybugs for a “Wreck-It Ralph” movie-themed fundraiser game Saturday, Aug. 17 on the floor of Everett Community College’s gym. The Sugar Rush are in pink, and Cybugs in black. The games had obstacles and power-ups like a video game. The Tilted Thunder will have games in Monroe Dec. 16 and in Everett Dec. 30 this year. Strawberry City is hosting a boot camp for new skaters to learn roller derby starting Sept. 9 at Mondays and Thursdays at the Marysville Skate Center.
