State Route 522 closed near Monroe Monday afternoon due to high-speed, head-on crash

MONROE -- State Route 522 is blocked well before entering Monroe. It was a high-speed head-on collision between two cars east of Fales Road and west of the Snohomish River bridge on the highway, Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue spokesman Peter Mongillo said. Three people were in the two vehicles. All three have been extracted and are advanced life support patients.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY — Last year, at least 85 people died on the streets in Snohomish County. This year’s number is not final, but organizers note that one is too many. The county will commemorate the deceased Friday, Dec. 20 with a vigil at 5:15 p.m. at the county campus.
