Kenneth “Ken” James McGlothlin, born June 7, 1943, in Dayton, WA, passed away peacefully at home in Marysville on December 15, 2024, at age 81.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Ola Eaton and Fred McGlothlin; sisters, Sharon, Dolores and Nelly; grandkids, DeJohn (DJ) Ward-Taylor, and Megan Foos. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sister, Patricia; children, Cyndi (Jeff) Barquet, Kris (Larry) Schroder, Shannon (Dennis) Foos, Sabrie (Steve) Taylor, and Heidi Chalker; grandchildren, Vanessa, Brittany, and Nicolette Lantz; Stephen and Madison Foos; Alisha Instrell; Oshinaye and Veronika Taylor; Blake Denton; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many others who lovingly called him Dad or Grandpa. His motto “Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special person to be a dad.”
Ken proudly served as a Navy Reservist for four years and worked as a crane operator, a career he loved. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, gardening, tinkering with cars, his dogs and spending time with loved ones. With a kind heart, quick wit, and a willingness to help anyone, Ken left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of calling him Dad, Grandpa, and friend.
A wake is planned for noon on January 11, 2025, at 12115 State Ave in Marysville.
