Wanda Mae Sell passed away at Mountain Glen Assisted living on June 20th, 2024, at the age of 90. Up until weeks before her passing she had remained at her home in La Conner, WA. Wanda was a devoted Christian with an unwavering faith and a member of The Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to many.
Wanda was born November 18, 1933, in Corsicana, Texas. She was the youngest of eight children, 4 boys and 4 girls.
After graduating from High School, she and her first child Angela Vaughn moved to California at the age of 23 to start a new beginning. During that time, she met and married the love of her life Robert Dean Sell Sr. The two remained in California and the family grew, giving birth to their next two children, Alicia Dean Sell and Robert Dean Sell Jr.
Robert Sr. had various sales jobs. He eventually landed a position with GTE Directories. This led to many years of travel to various cities in the United States. The first relocation together was Irving, Texas where they had their final child Cynthia M Sell. Wanda was the glue that held the family together. She supported her husband through various promotions from Texas to Pennsylvania, Florida, California, Washington, Hawaii, back to Washington, New York, Pennsylvania, and back to Washington for retirement.
She was a southerner through and through enjoying entertaining, baking and cooking. She celebrated all holidays with decorations throughout her home and family dinners enough to feed us for days. She has a plethora of recipes dating back to her mom. Some of our favorites included, Cornbread stuffing, Spanish rice with pork tenderloins, chocolate pie, banana bread, cherry pie, apple pie, carrot cake, and pound cake. At holidays or dinners, Robert Sr. exact words to her were ”Wanda, you’ve outdone yourself again!” She did it for her family and cherished the time they spent together. The love and support for her family was steady and unwavering.
Robert Sr. and Wanda lived in their La Conner home for 30 years. They loved being together. Taking day trips to deception pass, making quick turns into garage sales, taking cruises with friends and camping close to home with family.
She loved gardening, playing gin rummy or scrabble, sewing and crocheting (baby blankets were her favorite).
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents and seven siblings. She is survived by her children, Angela, Alicia, Robert Jr. and Cynthia, her 5 grandchildren Matt Sisserson, Tim Arwood, Ashley Russell, Jacobe Sell, Kaelin Sell and one great granddaughter Raleigh Sisserson.
Wanda will be remembered by all as kind, gracious, loving, humble, fun, witty, selfless, and independent. She was loved by all who knew her.
