Captain Dean Dolquist (John Dean Dolquist) flew his final mission on Monday, June 17, 2024, to be reunited with family and friends in Heaven. Dean lived a full life – serving in the Navy for 26 years, then serving God through hospitality in the home he shared with his wife, Mary Jo, and in the church they attended. He is survived by his wife and childhood friend, Mary Jo Drennon Fox Dolquist, and his children Don Dolquist (Georgia), Kristin Curtis (Ben), Jenny Dolquist, and Jon Dolquist (Jessi), and stepchildren Tim Fox (Rachelle), Karra Wesley, and Katy Vasbinder (Eric), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply.
Dean was born in Everett, WA January 2, 1943, and raised in Snohomish where he graduated in 1961. He retired in Oak Harbor, WA, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing, clamming, shrimping, and being with family and friends.
An open house celebration of life party will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 at Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill and Irish Pub in Mount Vernon. Donations may be made in honor of Dean to Wounded Warrior Project or the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
