Gerald G. Coffman, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in the evening hours of Tuesday February 6, 2024.
Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sister – Karen – wife – Lorraine and son – Perry. He is survived by his brother Denton; Sons Shanin (Kim) and David (Suzanne) Coffman; daughter Becky (Harry) Thimm; Eight grandchildren and Ten great-grandchildren.
He was born on August 18, 1935, to Rondo and Grace Coffman, in Walnut Grove Missouri, and graduated from Dadeville High School in 1953. After working at the Chevrolet plant in Kansas City for a few years, he headed North with a friend towards Alaska. He met the love of his life Lorraine O’Neill in Snohomish and started his family, only to visit Alaska many years later.
After a stint with Boeing and Graafstra Construction, Jerry branched out on his own to form Coffman Construction Services along with his son Perry, and later purchasing Snohomish Sand and Gravel. He is known for his precision work with an excavator and fair and equitable way of business. He was always willing to donate his time and materials to his church and community projects.
Throughout his life Jerry had a great love of family, enjoyed adventures and fishing trips to Canada with his sons, grandchildren and friends. He and Lorraine made several trips to the east coast in search of antiques and treasures for her business. Along the way they met many friends and had great stories to tell.
Jerry loved landscaping projects at home and doing small jobs with his excavator close to home, working well into his 80s. He had a great rapport with other people and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Jerry will be laid to rest in a private burial at G.A.R. Cemetery in Snohomish, WA.
Friends and family members are invited to a Celebration of Life in his honor on May 11, 2024, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Snohomish Senior Center at 506th 4th Street in Snohomish, WA
