MALTBY — The County Council couldn’t muster enough votes to override a veto from Executive Dave Somers that halted a council-created expansion of the Maltby Urban Growth Area (UGA). They also discussed the veto of another UGA in southwest county.

Everett looking at stronger tenants' rights laws, local rental registry

EVERETT — Members of the City Council have been discussing creating a registry program for all of the city’s rental properties, part of a larger policy package that would expand the rights of local tenants. The Rental Registration Program, if enacted, will require landlords to obtain a city license for each of their owned properties. The license will need to be renewed annually, and the process of renewal instructs landlords to complete a health and safety checklist.

SNOHOMISH — Tucked in an Avenue D strip mall sits Stray Cat Tattoo, and in this studio Viktoriia Veprentsova has found a haven for her art after fleeing the war in Ukraine. Veprentsova is a 21-year-old tattoo artist who made waves throughout Europe with her work.
