SNOHOMISH — Rates for in-town garbage, recycling and yard waste services will increase April 1 by an average of 4% overall, or an increase of about $7.50 per quarterly trash bill for an average home.
Rates for weekly pickup of a 32-gallon trash can will rise from $18.66 per month to $19.30 per month. Smaller 20-gallon trash cans will rise from $14.45 per month to $14.97 per month.
For recycling and yard waste services, which are mandatory and come weekly, the monthly rate will increase from $23.33 per month to $24.36 per month.
The hauler also charges a small 3.6% state refuse tax.
The total service bill for a household with a 32-gallon trash bin will rise from roughly $44 per month to roughly $46.50 per month.
Bills are quarterly. The quarterly bill in this scenario would rise from about $132 quarterly to about $139.50 quarterly.
Hauler Republic Services announced it is increasing the rates to track with the cost of inflation. The city’s contract allows these adjustments. Snohomish is contracted with Republic to 2031. It began contracting with Republic in 2003.
