LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Instead of asking for more firefighters through Fire District 4 in levy, use who is already in-house

SNOHOMISH FD4 EMS LEVY IN AUGUST

To the Editor:
Here we go again, sending up smoke signals. The signal is always the same: need more money. The Snohomish Fire Department is wanting to add people to the EMS payroll. Each year more then 80% of calls received, are EMS-related. No need to hire more people, simply transfer and train the existing firefighters to fill the EMS demand. After all, only 20% of the calls involve a fire truck.
The levy, “would also help fund EMS supplies, and more,” according to Chief Waller. What is “more”? The levy increase is to hire more staff (of which is already in-house.) There is no real need for this levy. No real need for our taxes to increase. Vote no in the August levy.
Don’t be eager to pass this levy, you’re spending $72 million for the new City Hall on Pine Street.
