Snohomish Open House will let folks see upcoming projects

SNOHOMISH — On Thursday, March 20, the city is hosting the first semiannual City Projects Open House.

It’s an opportunity for residents to ask questions, give input and hear about upcoming renovations and public works projects around the city. The open house will be from 4-7 p.m. in the Snohomish Carnegie Building, 105 Cedar Ave.

“We really hope that the community attends,” city spokeswoman Shari Ireton said. “Bring your questions and expect this to be a twice-yearly event where you could learn more about how your tax dollars are being reinvested back into the community through the infrastructure.”

The open house will also feature updates on Homestead Park, Civic Services Campus, pedestrian safety measures, the Tenth Street and Avenue D project, and a variety of intersection projects.

“Some of these projects will take multiple years, and they’ll be in multiple stages, so (open houses) will give folks an opportunity to come and chat with staff several times throughout the life of that project,” Ireton said.

There will be opportunities for community input regarding the First Street, Second Street, and Swifty Creek Master Plans and critical areas like wetlands and protected regions.

Residents will have a chance to learn about stormwater and pollution discharge, as well as the Sidewalk Enterprise Fund, a fund that will provide homeowners with funding to fix the damaged sidewalks on their property beginning in 2026.

The city projects open house will have an open format. Attendees will be able to talk with the people who oversee these projects at every level. Project managers and engineers alike will come to provide clarity regarding the details and impacts of upcoming projects and explain the rationale behind certain decisions.

“We want to hear from lots of different folks about what they want to see for First Street in the future,” said Ireton. There will be two open houses dedicated solely to the First Street Master plan. These will also be held in the Carnegie Building on March 27 from 8:30 - 10 a.m. and 4 - 7 p.m.

The next City Projects Open House is set to take place in the fall of 2025.
