LAKE STEVENS — Voters in the Lake Stevens School District will decide this February whether to approve a $314 million bond package which would build a new elementary school in close proximity to Stevens Creek Elementary off of state
Route 9, build athletic facilities, rebuild or repair buildings at Glenwood and Skyline Elementary Schools and more.
If approved, the bond would increase property taxes by about $38 per $100,000 in home value starting in 2026. The total projected tax rate would be $3.51 per $1,000 in assessed value, up from this year’s $3.07 per $1,000 of assessed value.
For a $500,000 home, the difference would be $1,535 in local school taxes today to $1,755 in 2026, or about $220 more.
The Lake Stevens School District boundaries include parts of east Marysville and areas north of Snohomish. The Machias area, though, is in the neighboring Snohomish School District.
This is a second try after its bond measure in November fell short with almost 59% of the vote.
All school bond measures require a 60% supermajority to pass.
The county elections office mailed ballots last week.
The special election is Feb. 11.
