SNOHOMISH — EvergreenHealth, which runs the hospital in Monroe, has a long-term plan to open a walk-in urgent care facility in Snohomish, the hospital’s top brass told the City Council last week.
It also is working toward expanding the number of beds in the Monroe hospital, including its overflowing Emergency Department, hospital administrator Lisa LaPlante said.
“We are serious about a presence in Snohomish,” LaPlante said. She specified an urgent care facility as its No. 1 goal, and a primary care clinic as its No. 2 goal.
EvergreenHealth Monroe’s finances are positive, charts from the hospital show. Last year, it ran a profit just on operating revenue, it said.
EvergreenHealth began with a public hospital in Kirkland.
It took over Valley General Hospital’s management 10 years ago, rebranding it as EvergreenHealth Monroe. Since then, it has invested in the hospital’s equipment and grew its services.
Its emergency department is seeing 50 patients a day, or equal to about 20,000 ER patients a year. The trendline is consistently increasing, a hospital chart outlined.
The Monroe hospital is a public hospital. Its tax district runs from east of Everett across most of central Snohomish County, excluding Lake Stevens and excluding Mill Creek.
