EVERETT — The Silvertips hockey team found redemption in Game 2 of WHL first-round playoffs against the Seattle Thunderbirds Saturday night in Angel of the Winds Arena about seven minutes into sudden death overtime when Eric Jamieson shot a fast one in.
The win tied the series 1-1.
The third game was Tuesday after press time in Kent.
On Saturday, refs declined one Silvertips shot in the first period that reached the net. The Herald reported Seattle goalie Scott Ratzlaff stopped the puck with his glove before it hit the goal line.
The Tips held the score at 2-1 until the furious T-Birds got a goal very late in the third, sneaking it past Silvertips goalie Jesse Sanche shortly after a puck drop, a gut punch for Tips fans. That last goal drove the game into do-or-die overtime that ran an even more furious pace.
Silvertips’ Sanche made 33 saves. Ratzlaff made 44 saves.
