Indie horror film opens in Monroe

MONROE — The Monroe Galaxy Theatres 12 is one of only 10 theaters nationally showing the independently made horror movie called “Crust,” say its distributors.

The concept is a laundromat owner keeps old socks which turn into a monster. A reviewer at the horror theme magazine “Fangoria” called the movie one of the grossest movies you’ll see. It is rated R.

The theater has a showing listed for Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 9 p.m. See the theater website for any further showings.

The film’s protagonist star is Sean Whalen, who also directed and co-wrote the film. Long-time actor Alan Ruck (Ferris’s best friend on “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” years ago) is the film cast’s highest-profile star.
