EVERETT — On about Nov. 20, red light runners at 41st and Rucker will begin being cited by traffic enforcement cameras at the intersection. The city announced it activated the cameras Monday. Right now, there’s a 30-day warning grace period.
The city plans to also operate red light cameras at five other intersections: 16th and Broadway, Evergreen Way and 112th Street SW, Evergreen Way and Casino Road, Evergreen Way and 4th Avenue W., and Everett Mall Way and 7th Avenue SE.
The six intersections selected are among Everett’s seven worst for the number of red-light violations that resulted in a serious injury crash.
A camera was briefly operating at 16th and Broadway. A driver took out the pole in a crash in September.
School zone speed enforcement cameras are active along W. Casino Road at Horizon Elementary. They’re active during the school year.
Citations are $124. Money collected pays for the camera company contract and for staff to review violations. Any money left goes toward roadway improvements.
