Snohomish farms highlighted in new book

SNOHOMISH — A poet and a photographer, both of Snohomish, recently paired up to show the area’s barns and farms, resulting in their new book “Voices From The Farmland.”

The 89-pager is interleaved with 40 photos of rustic farm life, 40 poems and short-essay interviews of eight Snohomish-area farmers, such as Keith Stocker and others.

Australian-born photographer Tony Scoringe and California-raised writer Chris Fickle created the coffee-table book. They call their creation the first of its kind.

Scoringe, who developed the project, had an exhibit of his barn photos at St. John’s Episcopal Church last year. Some re-appear here in print.

They are holding signings at St. John’s Church’s monthly art night held on the first Saturday night of the month, 7-9 p.m. at

913 Second St.

“Voices From The Farmland” is available for $45 as a hardcover book or $10 as a digital download from its publisher Outskirts Press. They’ve got it on Amazon, but are looking for local booksellers to carry the book.
