Snohomish Chamber doing “The Big Give” public holiday event

SNOHOMISH — The chamber is doing a new initiative this weekend called The Big Give, a free-entry event meant to show off some Christmas spirit.

Nonprofits provide games and crafts, plus there will be a free hot cocoa bar, visits with Santa, a Gingerbread Village, walks through decorated barns, and more.

Behind it is that each nonprofit is paired with a business sponsor.

“The main focus is to shine a light on the nonprofits” and help the community learn about them, said Nancy Keith, the chamber’s director.

Some are more recently created nonprofits, Keith said. All are chamber members.

The Big Give is happening Saturday, Nov. 23 at Craven Farm, 13817 Shorts School Road, in the Snohomish River Valley. It will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Craven Farm “will be completely decked out” for it, Keith said.

It comes before Thanksgiving, but it was “the perfect timing for what was possible” to get the event on the calendar, Keith said.

Local artist Katherine Costano created art for the event.

People can sign up for raffles for gift baskets and for pre-lit, decorated artificial trees that stand around five-foot-tall, Keith said. The trees will be decorated in themes.

“All proceeds from raffle ticket sales will benefit participating nonprofit organizations,” the chamber’s writeup said.

Wreaths and gifts will also be for sale.

Families are asked to RSVP to manager@snohomishchamber.org with the number of children who will be attending.

Lamb & Co. is the title sponsor.
