SNOHOMISH — A head-on crash Tuesday, April 24 around 9:30 p.m. on the Old Snohomish-Monroe Road seriously injured both drivers.
A 25-year-old Sultan woman driving a Kia Sorento SUV westbound crossed the center line and hit a Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by an 18-year-old Snohomish man. He was reportedly ejected from the cab.
The crash happened in the 11200 block of Old Snohomish-Monroe Road close to the farm property that has two upright concrete structures at its front.
The Kia driver was trapped in the vehicle and required being extricated from the SUV by firefighters. She was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Courtney O’Keefe said speeding and alcohol were possible factors.
A blood draw was taken on the woman. The toxicology results may take months, O’Keefe said.
A 26-year-old passenger from Snohomish who was riding in the Kia also had some injuries.
Snohomish River Valley resident Tosh Rosford said he was visiting friends in the valley and the group heard three thuds when the crash happened. He said he then heard a woman screaming.
