Wakeboarders jam on Lake Tye

Noah Felgal, 27, from Lighthouse, Florida, rides a wake during the opening day of the Nautique WWA Wakeboard and WakeSurf National Championships on July 25 on Lake Tye in Monroe in an up-close shot from the boat.
Felgal scored 91.67 points and took First Place in the Pro, Strapped, Foil Wake Surf event.
”That was a really clean run,” one of the judges in the boat said of Felgal’s work.
The small wake surf boards are fitted with a “foil” section at the base of a pylon so the surfer rides out of the water to perform their tricks. The “strapped” description means the surfers feet are in foot straps on the board.
Beaux Wildman, from Warsaw, Indiana, scored 73.33 points for second place. John Ackerman, 30, from Deerfield Beach, Florida, took third with 68.33 points for this event.
The Nautique WWA Wakeboard and WakeSurf National Championships ran to Sunday. The tour has been coming to Lake Tye for one of its championship rounds for a few years now.
