EVERETT — The city intends to rezone the former site of the Waits Motel, 1301 Lombard Ave., which it took using eminent domain and demolished.
The rezone would change it to the Neighborhood Business zone with the condition to limit development to no more than 16 townhomes, according to paperwork for the rezone.
Surrounding the spot are rows of one-story and two-story historic Donovan Homes plus Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
The city’s application says no development permits are being sought together with the rezone.
The rezone hearing will be Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. online on Microsoft Teams
A public comment deadline is Aug. 9 to dmarshall@everettwa.gov or to 425-257-7174 or by mail to City of Everett Planning, 2930 Wetmore Ave. 8-A, Everett, WA 98201.
The Neighborhood Business zone would newly allow government, administrative and service buildings, as well as food and beverage places including taverns and live entertainment venues, plus clinics and general retail.
City zoning matrixes show the Neighborhood Business zone also allows residences, community centers, club centers and schools. —Tribune
