Teen survives river drowning

MONROE — A teenager drowned Tuesday, July 9 in the Skykomish River by Al Borlin Park but survived, according to Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue.
Bystanders pulled the victim out.
The female teen received CPR from a bystander while fire crews were coming, and this was crucial for how she survived the drowning, her father said.
Fire crews rendered further aid, then transported the teen to a local hospital.
So far this summer, at least three people have fatally drowned in the county, including one at Eagle Falls and two in the Stillaguamish River near the Granite Falls fish ladder.
