SNOHOMISH — The city’s looking for local artists and artist teams to paint designs on the temporary planters along First Street.
Any artist 18 years old and up can apply. Applications are open through Thursday, Feb. 29.
Each planter should have its art up by mid-May. The theme of this project is “bringing the Snohomish community together.”
The city is putting a $750 stipend for each planter to cover the labor and materials costs to complete the project. (The planters themselves, installation, primer, and sealant is covered by the city.)
In the fall of 2023, the City installed five temporary planters along First Street. A sixth will be added once the street tree at the corner of First Street and Avenue C has been removed.
The planters will be in place until planned replacement street trees are planted in the future.
