SNOHOMISH — A 61-year-old Snohomish man who taught in Woodinville’s Northshore School District for 30 years was arrested in a regional sting on allegations of attempted child rape in the first degree.

The Redmond Police report says the man responded to a fake ad seeking mentors for two daughters. The man met with a detective posing as the mom, and told her he’d like to have “oral” with a 12-year-old in a way that was “pleasing,” according to the police report.

Later he flirted by email with the detective, Renton Det. Adele O’Rourke, and after weeks of talking they met in person again.

Do you want to have sex with the kids? The detective asked. “He immediately responded yes,” the police report said.

They arranged meeting the child at a hotel that night, where awaiting police officers swarmed him and he was arrested. He’d brought latex-free condoms specifically as instructed by the fake mom because the fake child was allergic to latex.

The Tribune is not naming the man because the man has not yet been arraigned in King County District Court as of Thursday, Dec. 11. Arraignment would mean the charges are formally recognized by a court.

He taught at Leota Middle School, according to the detective’s report.

Northshore wiped him off their website after news broke of the arrest.

Renton Police separately announced catching seven other men in a separate sting last week.
