SNOHOMISH — The Snohomish Youth Art Show is coming up Thursday, Aug. 22 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the historic Snohomish Carnegie Building at 105 Cedar Ave.
City Council member and art show coordinator Judith Kuleta said that “this is the third year we have done the show.” She said she pitched the idea to the city three years ago.
It is a free event for the public.
All participating artists are students. Most attend Snohomish High School.
The others attend “Glacier Peak High School, Centennial Middle School and Valley View Middle School,” city Director of Community Engagement and Strategic Initiatives Shari Ireton said.
More than 50 artists will be involved in the art show.
Students who take art courses at the Art Spot studio in Snohomish will present their art.
Also, Tiny Art will be there. They are “an art project coordinated with the Snohomish Library,” Kuleta said.
There will be different kinds of art. The artwork will range from “painting, textiles, ceramics and more,” Ireton said.
Snohomish Art Community’s monthly art walk will also be occurring that evening, and the youth art show will also coincide with the Snohomish Farmers Market.
If you want refreshments, the Farmers Market is right there as an option.
For parking, your options are limited because the “Carnegie parking lot, and Cedar and Pearl are closed due to the Snohomish Farmers Market,” Ireton said. It can be challenging because of the Farmers Market.
Furthermore, you can park “on First Street just west of Avenue D. Parking is free,” Kuleta said. ADA parking can be found “on First Street between Avenue D and Maple Avenue,” Kuleta added.
