SNOHOMISH — The city is creating a Human Services Advisory Board charged with  giving ideas to city staff on community welfare issues.

The city is taking applications to fill the first roster of volunteer board members.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m.

The volunteer group will be looking out for low-income  people of all ages as well as people experiencing homelessness.

Part of the role is to look at gaps in where the city is not delivering services for human needs and advocating for initiatives to improve these areas.

Other aspects include looking at needs in housing assistance, healthcare access, mental health support, and social welfare programs.
