MONROE — Though he’s not officially dropped out of the race, Monroe School Board candidate Andrew Fegler has decided not to campaign due to schedule constraints.
Fegler is running for the District 5 position against incumbent Jennifer Bumpus, who was appointed to the board in 2020.
Fegler told the Tribune by email: “My name still remains on the ballot, and my mission to serve the district remains true. However, I decided not to campaign for this position due to some personal life changes and obstacles.”
If elected, “I will do my best to serve and bring my youthful and unique perspective to the board. The timing of this campaign season just didn’t line up with my current commitments.”
Fegler is a Monroe-based entrepreneur who owns a stationary company and an online home décor shop. He won endorsement from the Washington Education Association’s PAC.
District 5 represents families and students living in the southwest area of the Monroe School District.
Elsewhere on the ballot
In the District 1 race between Jeremiah Campbell and Tiana Armstrong, Armstrong announced months ago she dropped out. In District 2, incumbent Chuck Whitfield and challenger Melanie Ryan both are actively campaigning. The Tribune plans to cover their race next week.
