MONROE — Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue (SRFR) is asking for a levy lid lift this November which would restore its levy rate to $1.50 per $1,000 in assessed property tax value from its current levy rate of $1.14 per $1,000.
Voting yes would cost an additional $36 per year ($3 per month) for every $100,000 of assessed property value.
For a $500,000 home, the cost is $180 more in property taxes a year. The total tax portion to the fire district for a $500,000 home would be $750.
Snohomish Regional Fire plans to use the money in part to restore manpower within the fire department. It would also use the money to “rebuild Station 81 in downtown Lake Stevens, relocate Station 32 in Monroe for a faster response and expand Station 31’s fleet services shop,” the first district said.
It plans to host Q-and-A sessions on these dates:
• Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. at Fire Station 31, 163 Village Court in Monroe
• Monday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. via Zoom (find Zoom link at www.srfr.org)
