Five apply for Everett school board opening

EVERETT — The school board will be interviewing five candidates who applied to fill a vacancy on the board.
They are Satya Ananthu, Carmela Maxell-Runyan, Roman Rewolinski, Nathan Shelby and Ryan Weber.
The five are expected to be interviewed Thursday, Oct. 12 at 2:30 p.m., and the board is expected to appoint its selection by that evening.
Ananthu is a tech worker who also has volunteered on the district’s Sustainability Advisory Committee.
Maxell-Runyan is a behavioral health and mental health professional who recently spent three years directing in-jail mental health at Snohomish County Corrections. She volunteers on the district’s equity and access committee.
Rewolinski is a certified public accountant and Navy veteran who is currently the controller of a private biotechnology firm. He volunteers on the district’s financial advisory committee.
Shelby is a career informational technology professional who had also applied for a school board vacancy in 2021. He volunteers on the district’s technology advisory council.
Weber is a mortgage loan specialist and previously worked as a business analyst. He is the chair of the Delta Neighborhood.
Rewolinski may be familiar to voters: He came fourth in this year’s four-way August primary with 12.28% of the vote. The top two, Charles Adkins and Ryne Rohla, together took 70% of the votes and carry political endorsements.
The appointment fills the vacancy left by Andrew Nicholls, who resigned in June. Whoever is appointed will finish Nicholls’ term and can run for re-election.
