SNOHOMISH — Come early for the bikes, stick around for the stunts and live music.
ABATE Sky Valley’s annual motorcycle show is back for people to see gleaming motorcycles of all ages and styles.
This is a “ride-in” show, so it’s hard to gauge how many bikes will come. In past years, though, hundreds lined First Street and the adjacent avenues.
The show is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 21. The Seattle Cossacks stunt team, with their burgundy and white vintage machinery, will perform motorcycle tricks at 1 p.m. Live music by Shortcutz will bring danceable classic rock from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It’s free to come and look. It’s $15 to register and enter your motorcycle. All types are allowed. Bike registration into the event runs from 9 a.m. to noon.
Portions of the money raised will benefit local charities. Entrants can register for trophies and awards that will be presented at 3 p.m.
The range of motorcycle categories for the show cover almost every bike of every size, both foreign and domestic.
The Snohomish show is one of the biggest in the region.
The show’s organizers, the Sky Valley Chapter of ABATE of Washington, is part of a larger nonprofit which advocates for motorcyclists’ safety among traffic, supports legislation to utilize all parts of the road (lane-splitting)
and is for motorcyclists’ freedoms, including making it a choice whether to wear a helmet while riding versus a state law requiring helmets.
Since 1996, the chapter has donated more than $50,000 to local charities through fund-raising efforts.
The show will also have vendors with motorcycle wear, accessories and more. Vendor registration is $150 for a 10 x 10 space.

Bike Nights all summer
On First Street on the second Tuesday of every month from 6 to 9 p.m. through August is Snohomish Bike Night, encouraging riders to come park, eat and drink.
The City Council approved the event application permit earlier this spring.
