Snohomish student working to fight childhood hunger

SNOHOMISH — Hasini Suryadevara, a Valley View Middle School 7th grade student, is raising money for the Snohomish Community Food Bank selling hand-decorated goods. This weekend, she and friends had a sale outside the Snohomish Safeway benefiting the food bank. Together with a $250 matching grant from the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation through Youth Service America (YSA), she has raised $685.50 so far for the food bank. She plans to do future events at the Safeway, with dates yet to be set.
Hasini is one of 100 young leaders across the country awarded Sodexo grants to organize projects to help end childhood hunger.
