SNOHOMISH — The Easter Bunny will lead 50 or more of some favorites at the state’s only known Easter Parade bounces and bops its way down First Street Saturday, April 8 starting at 11 a.m. rain or shine.
The public bonnet contest begins shortly after the parade ends. It’s for anyone looking to show off their headwear. Dress your pets if you like, they’re welcome too.
“We’re looking forward to a great parade with lots of returning entries and some new ones too,” Chamber of Commerce manager Nancy Keith said.
Yep, the Seattle Seafair Pirates will be there, as well as Jamie the Llama Lady, the West Coast Country Heat dance squad and the Modern Mopars car club. Antique tractors, J-ROTC drill teams and dance troupes are expected to come through, too.
Mayor Linda Redmon will be one of the parade judges.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Redmon said.
The parade began in 1981 by the Chamber of Commerce. That one had most of the same components: The bonnet contest, the floats, the bands down First Street, plus the Rainier Beer Deers. It was called the Easter Happening.
