SNOHOMISH — The public can meet future Snohomish Police Chief Mike Martin and say thank you to retiring Chief Rob Palmer at an event 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 20 at the Carnegie Building.
Martin, a lieutenant in the sheriff’s office, was selected by the city to succeed Palmer earlier this year.
Martin was Sultan’s police chief from 2018 until last year when he took a different assignment. He also was the administrative sergeant in Snohomish under chiefs John Flood and Keith Rogers.
Palmer, who became chief in summer 2020, is retiring after a nearly 35-year career in law enforcement.
Martin will be sworn in as chief during the City Council meeting later that evening inside the Carnegie.
The Carnegie Building is at First Street and Cedar Avenue.
Snohomish, Sultan, Stanwood and a few other small cities contract with the sheriff’s office to run local police services. Snohomish made the switch in 2011.
