Sound Transit’s CEO Julie Timm to exit role

EVERETT — Sound Transit’s CEO Julie Timm will be exiting for personal reasons Jan. 12, creating a search for a new leader for the second time in 18 months.
Sound Transit said in an announcement that Timm “will be leaving the agency in order to return to the East Coast to take care of family matters.”
Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin said that “I want to thank Julie and wish her family and her the best in their next chapter. I look forward to continuing this important work with the next leader and remain dedicated to getting light rail to Everett as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
Sound Transit’s Link light rail line service could start running from Lynnwood in fall 2024, but it could be as early as summer 2024. Link could reach south Everett in 2037 and Everett Station in 2041, from current projections Sound Transit shows online.
When Lynnwood Link opens, the standard adult fare will change to a flat $3 for the entire Link system (no changes to reduced fares via ORCA Lift.) Right now, its light rail fare structure is based on destination.
