Park Place school fields open for public play
MONROE — The Monroe School District announced track and all-weather fields at Park Place Middle School are now open for community use during non-school, daylight hours when they are not under a reservation for use.
The tennis courts at Monroe High School will also remain unlocked during these times.

Child hit in crosswalk
MONROE — On Nov. 29, a 13-year-old was hit by a car in the crosswalk at Main and Lewis streets at about 7:15 a.m.
The 13-year-old was transported to a local hospital, Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue spokesman Peter Mongillo said.
The driver stayed on scene and was cooperative, Monroe Police Cmdr. Paul Ryan said. No infractions or citations were issued, he said.

Edgewater Park design meeting
EVERETT — There will be a public information meeting about the Edgewater Park renovation project Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 4:30 p.m. online. Visit www.everettwa.gov/edgewaterparkrenovation for more information.

Monroe repeals pet licensing law
MONROE — Residents don’t need to license their pets anymore. The City Council voted unanimously last week to repeal the city’s license law. The police department requested the repeal, noting a significant decline in pet licensing compliance over recent years.

Everett code to limit livestock
EVERETT — The city seeks to clamp down where four-legged livestock can live in changes to its animal code.
Roosters would continue to be allowed if the owner pays for a license to have them.
A final public hearing and vote will be at the Dec. 6 council meeting at 6:30 p.m. at 3002 Wetmore Ave. People can also comment over Zoom. Online comment signups are due by 6 p.m. day-of.

Sandoval still in jury trial
SNOHOMISH — The jury trial for brewer Frank Sandoval was still ongoing as of Friday, Dec. 1. (update: the trial was still ongoing as of Monday, Dec. 4).

SNOHOMISH —  Opening motions for the trial of local brewer Frank Sandoval began Monday morning after press time. Last week’s court hearing was a “call for trial” to affirm everyone was ready to begin.
