MONROE —  State Sen. Brad Hawkins will be hosting a public town hall and listening session at the Monroe School District Board Room (14692 179th Ave. SE) on Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Hawkins’ office said he plans to present information about the state budgets and preview the next legislative session. The remainder of the meeting will be available to hear the public’s thoughts, ideas and suggestions. Everyone is invited.
Hawkins (R-Wenatchee) represents the 12th District, which covers Monroe eastward to Chelan County.
Hawkins is conducting a listening tour during the week, and is making stops throughout the legislative district. He’s also encouraging people to meet one-on-one with him through appointments over Zoom, in-person or by phone. If you are interested in an appointment, people can contact his office through his website’s Contact Me page at senatorbradhawkins.org or 360-988-3674.
Hawkins’ intent with the listening tour is hear his constituents’ concerns to prepare for the 2024 legislative session.
He is a ranking member on the Senate Early Learning and K-12 Education committee, and is on the Senate Transportation committee and the Higher Education and Workforce Development committee.
A redistricting process changed the state legislative map boundaries in January 2023, which moved Monroe and part of Sultan from the 39th District to the 12th District. Portions of King County also moved into the 12th. Redistricting happens every 10 years.
