EVERETT — Retired Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best will present to speak at the Historic Everett Theatre on Friday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m.
The theater is at 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Doors open at 5 p.m. This is a free, all-ages event. Walk-ins allowed.
She released a recent book titled “Black in Blue: Lessons on Leadership, Breaking Barriers, and Racial Reconciliation.”
In her presentation, listen to stories and insights from her days as police chief and get a book signed.
Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin will introduce Best at the event, theater manager Curt Shriner said.
Best rose through the ranks in 28 years within the Seattle Police Department to become the nation’s first Black female police chief upon her appointment in 2018. She resigned in 2020 in response to attritional police department budget cuts made by the Seattle City Council as part of the city’s 2020 budget talks. Her book came out in 2021.
