SNOHOMISH — The annual Snohomish Food Bank Benefit Extravaganza will take place Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at
902 Fifth St. in Snohomish.
Look for the inflatable figures with waving arms to find the house.
There will be many great finds at “pay what you want” prices including baked goods, kitchen items, shoes, clothes, garden items, tools, sporting goods, kid’s stuff and more. Community members Erin and Bill Webster II host this fun event with a bouncy house, burgers, hot dogs and beverages.
The goods being offered come from neighbors and donors who hear it from word of mouth. All profits go to the Snohomish Community Food Bank.
“It’s a unique array of stuff,” Bill Webster II said.
Anything leftover is donated to thrift stores supporting the Snohomish Senior Center and Snohomish County Domestic Violence Services.
“We decided to invest a substantial commitment into our community at the beginning of the pandemic,“ Bill Webster II said by email. “We realized that many more people would be in need of supportive services as a result of Covid. I volunteer at the food bank and saw the increased need first hand.”
“Raising cash money for the food bank allows them to purchase items as needed,” Bill said. “My wife and I are passionate about giving back and building community. Our belief is that serving others is the physical manifestation of our gratitude. We were shocked and humbled by the outpouring of support for this event so we decided that it would be an annual thing. My wife and I both donate money year round from our businesses. She sets aside $100 per loan and I set aside $100 per full house painting job. Together, and with the support of our community, local businesses and the Snohomish Chamber of Commerce, we raised $10,000 last year and our goal is to more than double that amount this year. $22k in ’22 for the food bank!”
Each November, the family and friends also cook turkey dinners for Thanksgiving to give to others.
“Come out with a giving heart and make a donation to the food bank,” Bill said.
