SNOHOMISH — Passing on your knowledge to a younger generation is an important part of life, and Snohomish High School’s Morgan Green does both as a teacher and coach today.
Sports have always been a big part of Green’s life, having started playing basketball and soccer at a young age. Her name may ring a bell as she was a star player for Snohomish High’s girls’ basketball and soccer teams in the early 2010s.
Primarily playing the point guard position, Green focused her playing style around defense and passing, allowing her teammates good scoring opportunities.
Green also played soccer in the position of center midfielder.
“Center mid allowed me to play both offense and defense and gave me the most freedom and possibilities,” Green said. During her time playing she mostly focused on her footwork just like her favorite player Lionel Messi.
Now that her playing career is done she has focused her attention on teaching students on and off the court. Green is currently in her fifth year of teaching Algebra 2 and Geometry, having started her career in Sunnyside before moving back to Snohomish.
She also now volunteers for the Panther’s girls’ varsity soccer team, as well as the girls’ basketball team.
“I love helping the students and players become the best they can be and striving for improvement,” said Green. Her coaching career continues to grow thanks to varsity girls basketball coach Ken Roberts who she considers a mentor.
Green is happy to be back in Snohomish, in the place where she was raised, and to be giving back to the community.
“Coaching makes me a better teacher, and teaching makes me a better coach,” Green said.
