EVERETT — The Everett Station District Alliance has revived its proposal to form a business improvement area tax which would be charged to property owners within a wide footprint. The boundaries are east of Broadway, and go as far north as Hewitt. The southern boundary is as far south as 38th Street, across the road from Everett Memorial Stadium. Interstate 5 is roughly the east boundary.
The City Council will hold a public hearing and final vote Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. Council meets at 3002 Wetmore Ave.
The tax revenue would be used for neighborhood cleanup and safety services as well as marketing the area. The levy would be an assessment of four cents per land square-foot plus 50 cents per $1,000 of total market value.
The Downtown Everett Association, which has its own BIA, has endorsed the Everett Station area BIA; its director Liz Stenning told City Council last week it’s due time for it.
