The city has appointed Jakeh Roberts as city public works director as part of a transition at the top.
Brad Feilberg, who started in Monroe as a junior engineer 35 years ago, is retiring from the city at the end of the year.

During Monroe’s leanest part of the Recession 10 years ago, he held three hats at once as the city’s finance director, city engineering director and a lead planner. Notably, Feilberg also manages the city’s emergency preparedness response efforts.
Roberts became director Nov. 1, and Feilberg retains public works emeritus status.
Meanwhile in the city planning department, the City Council is scheduled to appoint a new community development director next month.
Last but not least, the city is hiring an additional person to enlarge the finance department.
