Work on U.S. 2 this weekend POSTPONED
Election filing week May 17-21
SNOHOMISH COUNTY — There are seats up for election on the City Council in Snohomish, Monroe and Everett, as well as elections for mayor in each city. Everett’s five council seats are under the council districts format.
There are also school board seats up for election for the Snohomish, Monroe and Everett school districts, a seat on the Port of Everett commission and a seat on the hospital board overseeing EvergreenHealth Monroe.
The deadline to file is 4 p.m. Friday, May 21. The county elections office can be reached at www.snohomishcountywa.gov/elections
Snohomish pool opens Saturday rec swim times
SNOHOMISH — The Sno-homish Aquatic Center on Maple Avenue recently started offering time for recreational swimming. The fee for every swimmer is a flat $10, including spectators, because capacity is strictly limited. Pre-registration for swim times are required.
In related news: McCollum Park Pool will remain closed for 2021, the county announced.
Blackman Lake chemical treatments proposed
SNOHOMISH — An aquatic management company contracted to take care of Blackman Lake wants to use chemicals to abate fragrant white-water lilies that interfere with recreation. The company also manages aquatic plants and algae.

Jetty Island ferry back this year
EVERETT — The chance to explore Jetty Island is happening again after a one-year hiatus. Boat service starts Monday, July 5 and runs Wednesdays through Sundays up to Labor Day.
Reservations will be required. The reservation system opens June 15.
Sorticulture to be downtown
EVERETT — The city announced Sorticulture will be downtown this year. The garden arts festival happens June 11 and 12.
