TheLab@everett moving from Broadway to Hewitt Avenue

EVERETT — NW Innovation Resource Center’s Lab at Everett, also known as TheLab@everett, will move to a new location due to Everett Community College’s (EvCC) expansion.
TheLab@everett, like all the businesses in the shopping center at 1001 N. Broadway, is due out by the end of June. EvCC is building a new classroom hall, a black box theater and a new learning resource center. TheLab@everett’s current footprint sits where the learning resource center is planned to be constructed. A demolition date for the building has yet to be determined.
The City of Everett helped TheLab@everett find its new site by arranging a tour of available locations the City owns. Although the new yet-to-be-determined building on Hewitt Avenue will be closer to downtown, the executive director of NW Innovation Resource Center (NWIRC), Diane Kamionka, stated that parking might be more of a challenge.
TheLab@everett, with its private offices, shared collaborative spaces, networking opportunities, and workshops has had a mutually beneficial partnership with EvCC over the years. Patrick Sisneros, Vice President of College Services for EvCC, said TheLab@everett are “great partners,” and their relationship will continue. Kamionka stated, “EvCC is an important resource for the community and we believe the NWIRC provides resources for their students in terms of entrepreneurial experience and innovative thinking.”
