Mayor Kartak goodbye coffee meet
SNOHOMISH — Mayor John Kartak will host one last Coffee with the Mayor event under his official duties at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at the Starbucks at Snohomish Station shopping center on Bickford Avenue. The mayor will be at the standalone Starbucks in the corner of the shopping plaza, not the Starbucks inside Fred Meyer.
Kartak will leave office Dec. 31 to be replaced by Mayor-elect Linda Redmon.
Lovick shoo-in for State Senate seat
SNOHOMISH COUNTY — State Rep. John Lovick will soon step in the State Senate seat which Steve Hobbs vacated to become Washington Secretary of State. A majority of precinct committee officers in the 44th Legislative District Democratic Party supported Lovick at a nomination meeting Dec. 5.
To take Lovick’s state representative’s seat, the PCOs nominated Brandy Donaghy, Joyce Copley and Sean Paddock.
The County Council will make the final decision on both.
Monroe Salary Commission volunteers sought
MONROE — Help determine how much the mayor and City Council members are paid by volunteering on the city’s salary commission. The city seeks volunteers to fill open vacancies on this board. To apply, go to www.monroewa.gov
Housing, adult care center planned
SNOHOMISH — A developer wants to build 29 houses and a four-story adult care facility in a 12-acre space in the 2500 block of Bickford Avenue near the opposite side of the southern edge of the Snohomish Station shopping plaza. A bridge would be built over Cemetery Creek, which runs through the property. Application materials were filed in November.
Community Transit survey asks how to reshape network in coming years
SNOHOMISH COUNTY — Community Transit is asking for help from people in redesigning local bus service to better serve the county when light rail reaches the Lynnwood area in 2024.
