SNOHOMISH — Temperatures are expected to increase Thursday and remain hot into the weekend, and residents are encouraged to be prepared.
Temperatures are likely to exceed 95 degrees F in parts of the county.
Various locations will be operating as cooling centers for anyone who needs a place to escape the heat.
The Snohomish Senior Center, 506 Fourth St., will be open on Thursday and Friday as a public cooling station, extending its hours until 7 p.m., said Sharon Burlison, director of the Snohomish Senior Center.
“Games, socializing, movie and more with be available during our hours,” Burlison wrote.
The Monroe Community Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway, also will be open as a public cooling center. It will stay open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. this Thursday and Friday. The senior center encourages people to bring a favorite game or try a book from its lending library.
Other cooling centers include libraries and spray parks, such as the one at Willis Tucker Park.
