MONROE — Two of this year’s three City Council races have no competition, and in the third, the challenger to the incumbent ceased campaigning.
Councilman Jason Gamble is getting a free pass.
Businessowner Heather Rousey of the Original Pilot House Coffee shop will be assuming Councilman Jim Kamp’s spot after the election.
In the race between Councilman Ed Davis and challenger Delma Silva, Silva said she changed plans and is no longer seeking the position. She deleted her campaign website among other steps to dissuade voters.
Kamp told the paper previously he is exiting the council because he feels accomplished with the goals he had in mind for on helping shape the city, including keeping taxes low, strengthening the city’s economic development efforts and to include more businessowner input on issues.
The election will be certified Nov. 26. Any new council members would be sworn in soon after.
