Everett council, school board seats to be contested





EVERETT — Two of Everett’s four council seats are going unopposed, meaning council members Brenda Stonecipher and Judy Tuohy will get a free pass.
Councilwoman Liz Vogeli is being challenged by Marian LaFountaine.
Councilman Scott Bader will be facing newcomer opponent Joseph Erikson.
Erikson is a teacher in the Edmonds School District.
Bader was elected to the council in 2011 and works for the Seattle Catholic Archdiocese in its finance department.
Jonathan Peebles also had set up campaign finance framework with the state indicating he’d run against Bader, but didn’t file.
Candidate filing week concluded Friday, May 17.
On the Everett school board, three are in the hunt for retiring board member Carol Andrews seat: Janelle Burke, Brian Hollingshead  and April Berg.
Appointed incumbent Jamyang Dorjee Nhangkar faces challengers in Larisa Karpenko and Andrew Nicholls.
On the Port of Everett commission, commissioner Bruce Fingarson, who was appointed in 2018, will face former state Rep. David Simpson and Jeff LaLone, who owns the Everett Bayside Marine service center.
Port commissioner Glen Bachman is running unopposed.
