Jailed chiropractor released as judge reverses course

SNOHOMISH — The judge handling the case of Dr. Ken Parker, the former chiropractor, last week revised her sentencing order to be shorter.
He was charged for taking indecent liberties as a health care provider; it was for how he touched female patients during adjustments.
Parker’s attorney challenged to have his client’s sentence reconsidered. Earlier this month, Judge Karen Moore sentenced Parker to 2½ years of incarceration, a longer term than what either the state or defense sought.
The charge carries a sentence between 0 to 12 months. The stipulation agreement was to have Parker run down the clock on his separate counts together concurrently.
Instead, Moore sentenced Parker to serve each count consecutively. This is specifically what was challenged.
The reconsideration played out in courtroom in Snohomish County Superior Court Friday, April 22.
Parker went into jail in late April 2021 and had already served almost 10 months.
Fifteen or more women came forward in a 2021 police investigation.
